Speech title: Initial Steps Towards Virtual Reality for Human-Centric Software Engineering
Abstract:
Human-Centric Software Engineering (HCSE) focuses on human aspects, such as accessibility, usability, emotions, personality, age, gender, and culture, in engineering software systems. HCSE aims to design intelligent tools to assist human developers and improve user experiences. In recent years, virtual reality has attracted a lot of attention by the software engineering community as an innovative approach to support HCSE with immersive user experiences. For example, VR can be used for the requirements elicitation, analysis and validation for special users with sensory disabilities such as colour blindness and hearing loss. In this talk, I will present some of our initial steps towards VR for HCSE, especially the edge-computing based VR platform that we are currently working on to support human-centric requirements engineering, and also touches on the ideas of using the VR platform to support the development of health Apps and the education of human-centred design for IT/SE students at Deakin.
